PREP READY PROGRAM

PREPARING KIDS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES FOR THE TRANSITION TO PREP.

Term 3, 2024 – Term 1, 2025 | 3 Days per week, 9-3 pm Yarrabilba & Parkwood.

The Prep Ready Program is delivered in a classroom setting by our therapy team.

Children must be aged 4–6 and entering prep the following year.

The program is designed to put your child in the best stead for a positive transition start to their primary school journey. Children with special needs and disabilities can be prone to struggle with this major change when starting prep. Our program is designed to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible, and that your child is equipped with the critical skills for their start to prep in 2025.

Program Focus:

  • Positive behaviour and self-regulation.
  • Anxiety management.
  • Appropriate classroom behaviour.
  • Social skills and communication.
  • Literacy and numeracy basics.
  • Following instructions and directions effectively.
  • Coping with change.
  • Mindfulness.
  • Fine motor skills and handwriting.
  • Social skills and connecting with others positively.
  • Teamwork.
  • Staying on task.
  • Daily exercise physiology and OT basics.

Upon completion, your child will be prepared for their new start and commence their prep year with confidence and ease. You will also receive a written recommendation for your child’s prep teacher to support your child’s individual needs in 2025.

    What age range of children do you provide services for?

    Kids Therapy Club provides services for children in the age range of 6 to 16 years.

    What types of therapy services do you offer?

    We offer speech therapy, occupational therapy, and psychology services for children.  As well as a number of in-term, weekend and holiday Group Therapy Programs

    How do I know if my child needs therapy?

    If your child is facing developmental or psychological challenges, therapy can help them overcome difficulties and reach their full potential. Alternatively a referral or recommendation from a health professional would confirm if your child needs therapy services.

    Are your therapists qualified and experienced?

    Yes, our therapists are highly qualified and experienced professionals who excel in their respective fields. They undergo continuous training to stay up-to-date with the latest research and therapeutic techniques, ensuring that your child receives the most effective and cutting-edge therapy available.

    Do you offer one-on-one therapy sessions?

    Yes, we offer one-on-one therapy sessions in the areas of speech therapy, occupational therapy and psychology services, all tailored to your child’s specific needs.

    What are the benefits of group programs for my child?

    Group programs provide opportunities for social interaction, skill development, and peer support.  They are fun and interactive and particularly beneficial for children who shy away from individual therapy sessions.

    Can my child participate in more than one program at a time?

    Yes, your child can participate in multiple programs based on their needs and interests.

    How long are the school holiday camps, and what activities do they include?

    School holiday camps typically last for 4 or 5 days, with engaging activities and excursions and therapy-based approaches.

    Are your programs suitable for children with specific needs or disabilities?

    Yes, our programs are designed to specifically support children with various developmental needs and disabilities.

    What funding options are available for your services?

    We accept various funding options, including NDIS and Medicare.

    What is the NDIS?

    The NDIS is short for the National Disability Insurance Scheme. It’s a new way for people with a disability, under the age of 65, to get the care and support they need. The NDIS is for people with a permanent and significant disability that impacts their ability to take part in everyday activities.

    How do you ensure the safety and well-being of the children in your care?

    We have strict safety protocols in place to ensure the well-being of all children in our care.  These include a staff ratio of 1:5.  Register check after each activity

    Do you provide support and resources for parents?

    Yes, we provide support and resources for parents to help them navigate their child’s journey. We offer support therapy, dietician services and information sessions. As well as regular family gatherings and events so parents can engage with other families in similar situations.

    What is the duration and frequency of individual therapy sessions?

    Individual therapy session durations vary based on your child’s needs and goals.  However a session is typically 30-60 minutes long.

    Can you provide examples of the types of activities and exercises included in your group programs?

    Our group programs include activities such as role-playing, group discussions, and team-building exercises.  Our holiday Camps and weekend programs include real-world adventures,  kids get the chance to embark on exciting interactive excursions, including theme parks, DJ’ing sessions, top golf experiences, fishing trips, rock climbing challenges, and more, creating lasting memories and fostering independence.

    How do you assess my child's progress and determine the effectiveness of the therapy?

    We assess your child’s progress through regular evaluations and adjustments to their treatment plan

    Are your therapy services covered by insurance or funding options such as NDIS or Medicare?
